The Bungalow

If you were to travel twenty-five years back in time to look for this gorgeous and spacious Bungalow, all you would find are the ruins of an old farmhouse.

That was all it was when Trixie bought this property and the land it is standing on. A map with the exact location is available at the Contact Page.

Over the years she has renovated the entire place and bit by bit, year by year she has added parts to it to make it the fantastic and spacious 150 sqm Bungalow it currently is! Four people can comfortably stay here.

The Bungalow has a big living kitchen with gas-stove, microwave, electric oven, water-heater (gas) and a fridge.

The bathroom is spacious and light, with a shower and washing machine. And you can watch the highest mountain of Portugal, Mount Pico, while brushing your teeth…

The bed- and living rooms are connected to each other, big rooms with many windows and great views. For your entertainment you will find access to the internet as well as radio and television.

The spacious terrace offers a full panoramic view of Mount Pico, Horta and the valley of Flamengos and is the perfect ambience for a cozy breakfast, lunch in the sun or a romantic dinner at night.

The Bungalow is surrounded by a 2000 square meter garden. You will find a cute fish pond as well as many fruit trees, such as banana, kiwi, passion fruit, orange, cherimoya and avocado. You are welcome to taste fruit fresh from its source!

Your only neighbours are cows, goats and chickens. How about a fresh egg for breakfast?

The Cabin

On the same terrain – and with the same stunning panoramic view – as the Bungalow, Trixie has built a cozy wooden Cabin.

Although visible from the main house, visitors of the Cabin have enough privacy and a stay is therefore perfectly suitable for one or two persons.

The veranda (or porch) offers views over the valley of Flamengos, the Quinta de São Lourenço, Mount Pico and the Conceição parish of Horta. A map with the exact location is available at the Contact Page.

The Cabin itself is spacious and light with a surface of approximately 30 square meters. It comes with a double bed, a separate bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen corner with a two pit gas stove, water heater and a fridge/freezer; in short, everything you need to enjoy your stay on Faial.

Just like the Bungalow, the Cabin is surrounded by a 2000 m2 garden. You will find a cute fish pond as well as many fruit trees, such as banana, kiwi, passion fruit, orange, cherimoya and avocado. You are welcome to taste a fruit fresh from its source!

Your only neighbours are cows, goats and chickens. How about a fresh egg for breakfast?

Explore Azores Services

The aim of the Explore Azores packages is to give you the chance to fully enjoy your time on the Azorean islands whilst having the convenience of someone taking you around who knows the area, the locals and speaks your language!

Trixie has been living on Faial since 2003 and has traveled the central islands intensely during her almost ten year long career as tour guide. She speaks five languages, including of course Portuguese.

With Explore Azores she is making her vast experience and knowledge available to you.

The Explores Azores guided tours are mostly, but not exclusively walking tours on Faial, Pico and São Jorge islands, but visits to other islands can also be made part of your itinerary. Other activities are whale- and dolphin watching, scuba diving, sport fishing, sailing, cycling, mountain climbing, horseback riding, paragliding, visiting vineyards (on Pico) and of course there is also plenty of free time to enjoy discovering the picturesque parishes of the Azorean islands.

Prices & Availability

Tourism to the Azores has two seasons, high and low. The high season is from June until September and the rest of the year is the low season. Most of the Explore Azores tours take place in the high season, but you are of course more than welcome to book time in the low season.

Typical tours can last a week or two weeks, all depending on the time you have available. Merely as an indication, a typical Explore Azores tour of 14 days based on 4-6 persons all-inclusive (except your international flights) comes to € 980, whereas a week would come to approximately € 680 for the same amount of people.
